Hazel sees double with competition triumph

'Huts' which won Hazel Shaw the print
category prize.

The final night of Knaresborough Camera Club's indoor programme saw a double celebration after Hazel Shaw took both prizes in the print and projected categories of the 2013 Club Competition.

This is believed to be the first time in the competition's history that one member has taken the two top spots.

And the competition had some demanding judges — this is the only contest where the members judge one another's work.

Hazel's winning print image had an abstract feel, depicting colourful beach huts at Scarborough's North Bay compressed through a telephoto lens, while her image capturing the sea-ravaged and weather-worn of the old groynes on Sandsend beach impressed in the projected category.

Club chairman Richard Bryant said: "This is a  fantastic performance in a contest that saw some quality entries.

"I don't recall anyone pulling off this kind of double in the history of this particular competition. It's a great way of rounding off what has been a hugely successful indoor programme for the club."

This Sandsend image won Hazel
the  projected category.
Hazel received photography vouchers donated by Knaresborough Photo Centre.

The club's outdoor season is now under way and members can be seen at various locations throughout the district on Wednesday evenings.
