Looking back, looking forward ... Knaresborough Camera Club chairman Richard Bryant checks out equipment from recent decades as the group prepares to celebrate its 50th year, this autumn.

The 45-strong club was formed in the year England won the world cup and reckons it has scored with local photography fans with an informal approach, a strong emphasis on learning and a line up of judges and speakers drawn mainly from the professional world.

The new indoor season programme has an anniversary touch including a celebratory logo and a ‘going for gold’ theme for this year's chairman's choice competition as well as other celebrations along the way.

PERSONAL PHOTOGRAPHIC JOURNEYS
Richard said: "The new season represents a huge milestone – five decades during which the club has joined its members on their personal photographic journeys.

“We’re a vibrant club mainly because we listen to what members want which is why we draw several members from beyond the area.

"We regularly gauge their views and this makes sure we remain focused on their needs whatever their skill levels.”

The club meets at Chain Lane Community Hub on Wednesdays at 7.45pm. The new season clicks off with an enrolment evening on 14 September.
