Tour de Yorkshire action captured by Andrew Munden at Ilkley.
Cycling has put Yorkshire firmly on the map as far as the region's tourism chiefs are concerned with the prestigious Tour de France followed by annual Tour de Yorkshire spectacles, helping to create a long-lasting legacy for the county.

This shot by Andrew Munden, taken at Ilkley, drew praise from Yorkshire Photographic Society judges, earning a certificate.

Andrew said: "This shot was taken during the Tour de Yorkshire which was set up in 2015 a year after the Tour de France grand depart took place here in 2014. It's organised by the same team that has run the Tour de France, so it was very slick. It's a three-day event around the county.

"Day Three was a route from Wakefield to Leeds, which went through Ilkley, which is where I headed. It was very busy up on the Cow and Calf above Ilkley, but that really wasn't a surprise. It's one of the most iconic locations in Yorkshire so I had to go there to catch the bikes with that behind them.

"This black and white photo was accepted by the Yorkshire Photographic Union for which I received a certificate. Technically, it was taken in a crowd with the camera held above their heads, manual focus guessed well, and a wide angle lens. It works best in black and white because the bright colours were distracting from the focal point."
