A message from our new Chairman

 Hello

As the new chair of Knaresborough Camera Club, I'm keen to connect to potential new members and also reconnect with all our previous members and tell you about our exciting programme. And, of course, to say how much we would love to see you join us.

You might be aware that most of the autumn-winter season's activities now take place on Zoom. This enables members to enjoy discussing their favourite hobby from the comfort of their homes and it allows us to call on the services of guest speakers and judges from all parts of the country.

So far, the speakers have given us valuable insights on the rules and myths of composition, how to use our camera equipment, and how to see beauty in parts of the built environment that most of us might overlook. We've seen examples of top-notch photography in our open and nature competitions and the judges have given us so many useful pointers about how to enhance our work.

Whether it's online or in person, members tell us they love learning about photography together in a friendly and supportive group.

Take a look at what we've lined up for 2022 on the programme page of our club website.

It would be great to have you with us.

Best wishes

Matthew Webber, Chair

Knaresborough Camera Club

Image of the month December 2021

Puffin with sand eels by Stuart Whitfield is our photo of the month. It secured first place in our December camera club nature competition. The judge liked the sharpness and composition along with the challenge of exposing for both black and white in the same image. An overall excellent competition winner. We all love a good puffin photo.

Image of the month November 2021

Tower Bridge by club chairman Matthew Webber is our latest image of the month. It's taken from the Lights category of our monthly project images.

Image of the month October 2021

The first placed winner of our October Open club competition was this image Taking in the Splendour at the Grand Mosque in Abu Dhabi by Duncan Snell. The judge liked the architecture details of this special and spectacular place. He said that the leading lines of the pillars, symmetry of the arches and people and tiles were well photographed. A worthy competition winner.

Image of the month September 2021

Our September image of the month is Man made ‒ Handmade by club member Julie Valentine. It was one of the popular entries in our September monthly project with the theme Man made.
