Knaresborough Camera Club, AGM minutes 2013-2014
Members
present – 24
Meeting
opened at 8pm, 9 April 2014
Apologies
for absence received from – Karen Noble, Christopher Coupland
Minutes
read, proposed by Graeme Glass, seconded by Mervin Straughan.
The
Chairman delivered a brief report thanking the membership for their continuing
support, particularly with the Secretary’s illness. The Chairman also commented
on the enthusiasm of the membership and the variety of interests expressed by
the membership.
No
secretary's report – Mervin reported on Steve's welfare and the work he has
done in the background. It is beholden to us to maintain the club and not let
Steve down.
Treasurer's
report – main change – highest membership, so much higher members income
reflected in figures. Compensated
for reduction as no bring and buy sale – not something the membership appears
keen on.
See
accounts regarding changes in refreshments, models/speaker expenses. Still
looking for new projector – Peter Turnbull looking into this.
- Purchased new lighting equipment.
- Planned expenditure this year on DVDs and portable WiFi session.
- Membership to stay at £40 per adult.
- YPU fees on sliding scale depending on no. of members.

The
membership suggested that we organise a tutorial session on how to size and
prepare images for competitions.
It
was proposed that we hold an evening looking at Social Media as a photographer.
- Clarification of the competition entry form is needed.
- Check out Age Concern/ Manhatten Club etc – free rooms with wifi.
- Knaresborough House
Suggestions
for new competition titles were proposed by the membership including;
- Iconic images competition
- No dogs/cats
It
was suggested that we consider a two-year cycle for competitions. Members
commented that some of our competitions are too eclectic and difficult to
interpret.
We
should consider writing a section for the website with basic settings for each
type of competition image
It
was proposed that experienced members to buddy up with novices for evening
practicals.
This
year’s competition titles were decided as;
Open,
Portrait, Monochrome, Annual, Close-ups
